Taped shows are fine. But there's nothing like real live comedy. And a live stream is more like a tape than a live show.
But comedy on Zoom? That's much, much closer. And that's what we have on Wednesday, April 8 at 9 o'clock (Eastern). Join us for Amy Silverberg, Geoff Asmus & Mike Lebovits.
Here's the main page for the series where you can check out upcoming and past shows.
Or follow us on social media for the same:
Here's how it works:
- Get Zoom here (it's super simple to use and free).
- Hit the "Join the show" button below at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8 to join. You can RSVP and add to your calendar here or on Facebook (shudder).
- Turn on your microphone and/or camera so we can hear everybody laugh and feel together (also: behave).
- Our amazing comedians do 10 minute sets each.
- You laugh a great deal.
- Donate. We're not putting up a paywall since we want everyone to easily join but we'd appreciate your donating $5 (or more!). Everybody's gigs went poof so a bit of cash would be highly appreciated.
Now, the comedians. First up is Geoffrey Asmus.
Geoffrey began performing stand-up in 2013 immediately after wasting $143,548 on four college degrees.
Soon after Geoffrey was selected as a ‘New Face’ at Just For Laughs in Montreal and performed on FOX’s ‘Laughs’ and Kevin Hart’s LOL Network. Geoffrey has opened for Dave Attell, Daniel Sloss, Joe List and Aparna Nancherla among others.
But no matter where he performs Geoffrey never makes eye contact, which is a blessing for all.
Then, Mike Lebovitz.
Mike began his comedy career at the age of six with clowning classes at the local JCC. He's been delighting crowds with his intoxicating brand of wild-eyed humor ever since. Mike’s irreverent bar-stool philosophy careens from topic to topic like a runaway freight train with some dubious couplings. Audiences have described the experience as “spontaneous,” “joyful’ and “slightly terrifying.”
Mike cut his teeth in Chicago (not as painful as it sounds), where he was a regular at Zanies Comedy Club, The Laugh Factory and Comedy Bar Chicago. He co-founded the popular showcase, Comedians You Should Know, which he brought to New York City in 2016. It has since become the weekly go-to spot to see comedy legends and up-and-comers rock the same mic.
Internationally, Mike has offended nostrils in Montreal as a "New Face" of the 2013 Just For Laughs, and he won The Montreux Comedy Festival competition in Switzerland. He’s been featured on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central, and HBO’s The Deuce. Check out his debut album, LEBO, on Stand Up Records.
And finally: Amy Silverberg.
Amy was a New Face at the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal in 2018. You can watch her on "Inside Joke with Asif Ali" on Amazon Prime. She also has a set on Comedy Dynamic's "Coming to the Stage" available on Pluto TV. She co-hosts three monthly stand-up shows: "What Now?" at The Hollywood Improv Lab, "Bitchface Comedy" in Pasadena, and "Wolf Den" in Silverlake.
Most importantly, she was once a contestant on Wheel of Fortune, during which she correctly guessed the phrase "He's Just Not That Into You" but still didn't win.
When this is all over, you'll need to go out. And also re-introduce yourself to your friends. asembl is the perfect tool to make doing both better. Check it out for all the best things going on and the easiest way to gather a group to do those things with.
